Speaking From Experience - Questionnaire.

1. Did you use Blogger or any other blogging websites before starting the course? If yes which ones?


2. Do you find blogging to be a simple task and easy to do? If no, why?


3. What problems have you experience with Blogger in this first year? List any big or small.


4. How did you solve/overcome these problems? or are they still an issue?


5. What one piece of advice would you give the first years about blogging?




Chris Van Neikerk:


1. No
2. Not always no. Personalising and layouts is annoying and the software is simple.
3. Finding friends, personalising blogs.
4. Avoided doing anything for ages. It took a long time to figure out how to make it look good but I sat there for ages doing it.
5. Do it all the time. You think it's easy but it piles up and its essential as most of your work is assessed through the blogs.


Eddie Cooper:


1. No
2. No. Takes ages especially uploading quality pictures.
3. When you publish something the layout sometimes changes. Ran out of storage space.
4. Still a problem.
5. Get a blog going now and get in the habit.


Yaffet Bisrat:


1. Not Blogger. Tumblr, Flickr, Facebook.
2. Yes.
3. Ran out of storage space, image rotation.
4. Rotate the images before uploading them. Bought more space and made a new blog.
5. Don't worry about running out of space and don't forget the Design Context blog.


Luke O'Brien;


1. Tumblr on occasion.
2. No found it difficult to get into the habit
3. Trouble uploading videos.
4. Still an issue but i googled how to do it
5. Get into the habit of blogging.


Ben Harwood:


1. No.
2. Yeah.
3. Uploading more than one photo, making it look nice.
4. Just worked it out and asked more experienced bloggers.
5. Do it every day. Blog something straight after you've done it.


Kirsty Fruin


1. yes for interview.
2. Fairly simple once used to it.
3. Uploading pictures more than one at a time, problem with spacing between images, ran out of space.
4. Learned how to upload multiple images from someone else, spent time to make the design look good, made a new blog and bought more space.
5. Do it frequently. Blog everything.

1. Tiny bit. Used Tumblr.
2. Yeah
3. Running out of space because my images were too big.
4. Bought more space.
5. Start reading and understanding html. Watch videos on how to do it.

1. No.
2. No. Bores me. No technical difficulties.
3. Sorting out labels.
4. Keeping on track when blogging.
5. Try and make it enjoyable.

1. Yeah Tumblr. It was much easier.
2. Yeah relatively.
3. Server rejecting images so can't upload them.
4. It happens still but I try using a different browser like Firefox.
5. Know how to change the date and time.

5. Stay on top of it.

2. Pretty Tedious.

1. Yeah. Blogger for my interview portfolio.
2. Pretty much, bit tedious.
3. Pictures, they don't fit or they don't look good.
4. Persevere with them.
5. Try and do it quick and do it while it's their in your mind and still fresh.

2. It varies because, some bits are easy and some aren't.
3. Tagging wrong things, ran out of space.
4. Bought more space. Looked at others blogs and asked others about the tags.
5. Start it up before you start the course. Make sure you tag things.

2. Sometimes, depends what I'm blogging. It's hard if I'm not enjoying the brief.
3. Uploading photos.
4. Sometimes just wait, make sure the files are the right format.
5. Never ever leave it to the last minute, blog as you go along.


Beth Yates


1. Had to make one for Manchester interview.
2. Yeah, but it was hard at first to get into the habit.
3. Taking ages to upload images. Can't move them.
4. Reloading the webpage.
5. Do it as your working.

1. Yes. For random stuff both personal and professional.
2. Yes and no, depends what your blogging and what mood I'm in.
3. Had to upload photos one at a time.
4. It fixed itself.
5. Keep on top of it, don't leave it till the last minute.


Sarah Pritchard


1. Yeah. Blogger.
2. yeah but it's daunting.
3. problems uploading photos, ran out of storage space.
4. Used Photobucket and linked the photos to save space. The photos are temperamental.
5. Don't leave it for another day. Do it the day you get it. Blog everything.

1. No. Barely used Facebook.
2. Find it simple. it becomes a chore. Find the ideosyncrasy annoying, they slow you down.
3. Uploading, centring, scanning and formatting, labelling well and navigation.
4. Kept labelling consistent. Edited the images.
5. Blog straight after workshops while it's still fresh in your mind. Worth checking out other peoples blogs.


Simon Cherry


1. Yes. Used Tumblr.
2. Sounds easier than it is. Its hard to find the motivation after a long day.
3. Getting images on. Laying them out.
4. Realised you can rearrange pictures via html, you can copy and paste them.
5. Do it! Don't leave it till last minute. Its a relief once it's done.
