Speaking From Experience - Problem Analysis

Today we worked with our problems and tried to define whys of solving them and in what form. We worked in pairs discussing our problems and what initial ideas we had for them and helped each other narrow it down to just two instead of five.

Once we had both chosen two problems to look at from our original five we then filled out rationales to set the problem up more like a brief.

The two i chose were 'HOW TO DEAL WITH THE CONSEQUENCES OF OVER SLEEPING' and 'LEARNING HOW TO BLOG FOR THE FIRST TIME'.

Initially i was swaying more towards the blog based brief as it was a genuine issue for myself and many others. We paired up again with different people this time and gave feed back on the ideas we proposed to resolve these problems. The feedback pointed out that the over sleeping brief wouldn't apply to everyone as the audience is a random group of students they will all be coming from differing backgrounds and possibly age groups and cultures. The blog brief however does concern everyone as all new students will have to blog and learn how to if they don't already know how to. So i decided to go forward with that one.

I proposed my ideas for possible solutions to solve this problem and came up with things like:-
  • A video or series of video tutorials that demonstrate and explain the fundamentals of blogger and how to blog effectively
  • Digital help tutorial with diagrams and walk throughs of how to get the most out of blogging
  • A poster with the top tips of how to blog and what not to blog
  • Similarly a dos and don'ts poster or booklet that could be tongue in cheek and entertaining as well as educating
  • A motivational list of things to try when your stuck blogging, this would be aimed more at slightly experienced bloggers.
In terms of where they could feature my initial thoughts were at the college in some form and online as those are the two most likely places that a college student will go looking for help. So this would include the VLE, Student Advice office, the BA Graphic Design studios and they could even be give out at interviews to get people started before they arrive.

I even thought about making a section on the LCA Facebook group that students could join before arriving or once they have arrived and joined the group so it has some from of helpful, course specific, information. Further more, although i don't have much knowledge or experience with Apps, i though it could be a useful tool that people can have on their phone to help look up on how to do something, or even access blogger quickly to blog short pieces of information of photos they take on their phones while not at a computer.
