YCN - Why don't they want us to change their package design?

Graze have asked in the brief for us NOT to change the package design. This may seem restrictive on us for the outcome but there's a reason for this request. The box has been designed so that it fits through a letter box and that there is no waiting around for a mail man each time your expecting one to arrive, however, the old box would only fit through certain letterboxes and the redesign of the package allows them to fit through a bigger range of letter boxes opening up the business to be a more universal deliverer.

This is a review I found from http://www.ciao.co.uk/graze_com__Review_5822943 its based on their old design but I found it interesting and relevant to understand the transformation that the box has undergone before we begin to design for it.

What is it?
A company set up to provide healthy snacks to people at work. The company is owned by the same people who set up Lovefilm. Their idea is to send healthy snacks to people by post. They worry that people who sit at a desk all day only snack on chocolate and crisps.
What do they deliver?
Fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, seeds, olives and healthy treats. A box is delivered to the address that you specify by first class post, the box fits in a standard size letter box so there is no need to wait in for the post man!
The box is made from recycled cardboard and contains 3 different tubs, a large box containing fresh fruit (typically around 120g), a medium sized box containing dried fruits and nuts (around 80g) and a small box containing healthy treats (around 40g). I have had a great selection so far including non-dairy chocolate beans, fresh pineapple, cherry oranges, dried mango and macadamia nuts and dried morello cherries (which were my favourite)! All of the packaging is recyclable except the peel able lids on the tubs. They even include a napkin and a small wooden fork type implement for eating things like pineapple.
They also do nutritional boxes, which can be tailored to your specific needs, but to be honest I just like a box of treats!
In each box is a letter telling you what is in the tubs, they give you all the nutritional information you could want to know, and also some tear off codes to give to your friends so that they can get £1 off their first order and also you get £1 off your next box when they have ordered. (If you want a code let me know I will message you with it!)
When do they deliver?
They will send you as many boxes as you want in the week, they will deliver Tuesday-Saturday, they don’t deliver Monday as they cannot get Royal Mail to collect from them on a Sunday. They process all orders for the next day, so Tuesday boxes are made up and sent out on a Monday, etc. You can change your delivery details right up until the morning before delivery.
The idea is that you have this delivered to you at work, but they deliver anywhere with a letterbox, I get mine delivered at home.
How easy is it to order?
Once you go onto the web page www.graze.com and you enter all the usual details and become a member (which is all free) you then get to tell them when and how often you want boxes of treats delivered. They like you to have them delivered weekly but you can put boxes back to another later date or stop them all together if you want to.
You can then look through the whole catalogue of foods that they offer and choose any that you don’t like and put them in the ‘bin’ you can ‘try’, ‘like’, or ‘love’ any items. For example I don’t like olives so I put all the olive options in the bin so they won’t ever put these in my box.
The whole process is very easy. They also have the choice to deliver a one off box, I have done this for my mother for Mothers Day, as I know she will love all the treats that I have so far tried.
After you have been sent your box you can see what was in it online and then ‘bin’, ‘like’, or ‘love’ the items they have sent you so that in time you get more of what you love and less of things that were only so-so.
