MONK
|
|
Brief
|
|
Rebrand the high end
and sophisticated bar known as The Monk. The bar has a very high class,
sophisticated atmosphere and outlook. The challenge is to revamp the brand
and identity whilst keeping this atmosphere alive.
Alongside this there
you must aim to reach out to new customers and create fresh interest in the bar
from a younger audience.
|

|
|
Based in Buxton, The
Monk has recently been bought by Manachain Monahan, a young bar tender with
lots of enthusiasm for cocktails and a high standard of service.
The bar is very classy
and expects its customers to behave well and they have a strict policy on
being too drunk or disorderly. The bar even has it’s own members club and
where members are given priority entry on busy evenings.
|
|
Mandatory Requirements
|
Deliverables
|
The bar is a
sophisticated place and it must maintain this image in order to keep the current
customers who love the bar the way it is.
The rebrand needs to
give the bar a breathe of fresh air and bring in new customers.

will be applied to the venue front, points of purchase and other possible

BRETT’S FISH &
CHIP RESTAURANT
|
|
Brief
|
|
Brett’s is a rustic ye
old style fish and chip restaurant. It needs to be brought to life and engage
the potential market in its surround areas of Headingly, Hyde Park, Burley,
Kirkstall and Weetwood. This needs to be done through branding, identity and
promotion.
|
|
Background / Considerations
|
|
The fish and chip
dinner hasn’t changed at all since it first cam about. The idea of the
traditional fish dinner is embedded into British culture. The design should
not lose this traditional aspect of the product.
The restaurant also
provides a takeaway service that would need to be included with any aesthetic
changes.
There is a large are
outside the restaurant that could be used for a number of things, how can
this be utilised in the promotion?
|
|
Mandatory Requirements
|
Deliverables
|
The fish and chips
haven’t changed so neither should the authenticity of the restaurant.
|
A promotional campaign
or event that draws the attention of potential customers and makes them aware
of the restaurants existence.

VIEW HOLOGRAPHICS
(research brief)
|
|
Brief
|
|
View Holographics has
the potential to become the next big thing in printing and communication
possibilities. However it has some difficulty communicating what the company
does and can offer its customers and potential clients.
Design a set of
informative and engaging hand outs that View can send to other businesses.
Alongside this the gallery space needs to be re designed to create a more
suitable place to view the existing samples of work. The laboratory has
copious amounts of wall space that could be used for informative posters that
co-inside with the information in the hand outs.
|
|
Background / Considerations
|
|
The company relies on
investment and new sources of revenue and the best way to get this is through
new clients. The service and products that View offer are almost unique and
they have many hidden uses and possible selling points. The main blockade
between the business and new customers is the knowledge of what the company
does.
This brief will
require a lot of research into holograms and the process in which they are
created.
|
|
Mandatory Requirements
|
Deliverables
|
Lots of research,
mostly secondary from books and publications about holography.
Primary research, work
experience at View Holographics.
|
A booklet or set of
hand outs that inform the clients about holograms and what the company does.
A series of 8 posters
to be displayed around the laboratory.
Templates for a
slideshow presentation that will make it easier for the company to give talks
and promotional lectures about the business to clients.

PERSONAL CLOTHING
BUSINESS
|
|
Brief
|
|
Through collaboration
you need to design, market, document and promote a new clothing label. The label
will need a strong brand and identity that should be communicated through
photography and distributed via the social networking sites at your disposal
alongside any other opportunities such as print fairs and creative events.
|
|
Background / Considerations
|
|
The business has the
potential to be fully functioning and to grow so it should begin small with
T-shirt printing. The designs of the shirts are not the focal point however
they will need to reflect the labels identity.
A physical shop space
wont readily be available or affordable so it will need some sort of online
shop for customers to purchase the T-shirts.
|
|
Mandatory Requirements
|
Deliverables
|
The brief will need
some financial backing so a contribution from willing partners will be
essential. An aim of the brief will be to break even.
The business must be
made legitimate, use the skills and knowledge gained from Level 5’s
Enterprise module to set the business up.
|
A series of printed
T-shirts.
An online presence
that can contact new customers and inform them of deals and new designs.
An online shop so
customers can purchase Items.
An editorial look book
that showcases the range of T-shirts and enforces the labels brand and
identity.

POPINA’s
|
|
Brief
Refresh and redesign
the Popina’s café focussing on giving the café I strong identity through a
solid brand. The café has no real significant branding or design work so
there is plenty of room for improvement. You should aim to attractive new
customers and create more revenue for the business, this could be executed in
the form of a promotional campaign.
|
|
Background / Considerations
Popina’s is situated
in the middle of the student area in Hyde Park and students are the main
source of income for the café. The café has been around for many years and is
in much need of a rebrand to give it a more distinguished and noticeable
presence.
The surrounding
buildings sport some graffiti and street art which gives the area a very
urban and creative feel, the shop currently sits well amongst these artworks
and wouldn’t want to become an eyesore up against them.
The food is great and
people need to know about it, how can you make a buzz about the food and keep
hungry students coming back for more?
|
|
Mandatory Requirements
|
Deliverables
|
This must be an
illustrative based brief.
The redesign must
still retain the ‘cool’ factor that Popina’s has developed through word of
mouth over the past decade.
|
New logo
Menu display boards
(instead of printed)
A board
Window designs/

Promotional campaign

of bikes
|
|
Brief
Investigate the
anatomy and construction of the bicycle. Using information gathered through
research, produce a series of prints and a short run publication that is

they need some serious repair they can explain their problems properly with a
bike fixing company such as Bikology.
|
|
Background / Considerations
A bike is made up of
